Charity Home – Agathians Shelter

Hello everyone! We would like to introduce one of the selected charity homes for Project Change Watt We Can 2018.

Agathians Shelter is a legally registered welfare home under the name: Pertubuhan Kebajikan Agathians Malaysia (0061-04-7) in 2003. Agathians Shelter is a welfare home located at Petaling Jaya and currently nurturing 36 boys who are either orphans, abandoned or from broken family, the age ranges between 5 till 20 years old.

The mission is to save the children from the streets. Agathians Shelter’s aim is to fulfill all essential needs in every kid’s life such as shelter, food, education, care, attention, and love. Agathians Shelter was founded by Mr.Siva Balan (Brother Siva) in an attempt to rescue 8 boys from an illegal orphanage closed down in 2003.

Under Project Change Watt We Can 2018, Agathians Shelter’s Wishlist items are 75 units of LED fluorescent tube light, 1 unit of refrigerator, 2 units of Air-conditioner and 2 units of washing machine. With this, we believe that they will be able to achieve savings of approximately 30 % - 40% of their current monthly electricity bills and also help protect the environment. Creating a sustainable impact is the gift that keeps on giving. Money saved from the electricity bills can be used to improve other aspects of the lives of the less fortunate.
